Find the Fuse Box and Replace a Fuse

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 7, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Suzuki Swift Mk3 (AZG/AZH) 2010-2017.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

When an electrical item on the Suzuki Swift (2010–2017) stops working — a window, the radio, a 12V socket — a blown fuse is the first thing to check. The Swift has two fuse boxes, and swapping a fuse is a simple job once you know where they are and how to read the lid legend.

Where are the Swift fuse boxes?

  • Engine bay: a black plastic box next to the battery in the engine compartment, holding the main and higher-current fuses and relays.
  • Inside the car: behind a cover on the driver’s side, low down under the dashboard near the kick panel.

The exact fuse layout varies by engine, transmission and trim, so always read the legend printed on the fuse-box lid of your own car rather than copying a chart from another Swift.

How to Check and Replace a Fuse

  1. Switch off the ignition and the affected circuit before you start.
  2. Open the relevant fuse-box cover and use the lid legend to find the fuse for the faulty item.
  3. Pull the fuse straight out with the plastic puller clipped inside the box — never use metal pliers.
  4. Hold the fuse to the light: a broken metal strip means it has blown.
  5. Fit a new fuse of the same amperage (shown by its color and the number on top) — never a higher rating.
  6. Switch the circuit back on to confirm the repair.

FAQ

Which fuses are the same on every Swift?
The accessory, cigarette-lighter/12V socket and interior circuits are always present, though their slot positions still differ by model — check the lid legend.

The new fuse blew again immediately — why?
A fuse that blows straight away means a short or an overloaded circuit. Stop replacing it and have the circuit diagnosed.

Can I fit a higher-rated fuse to stop it blowing?
No. A fuse protects the wiring; a higher rating can overheat the harness and cause a fire. Only ever use the stated amperage.

Should I touch the airbag, ECU or glow-plug fuses?
Leave safety and control-module circuits (airbag, engine/transmission control, glow plugs) to a technician — a mistake there can disable safety systems.

If a blown fuse coincides with a stored fault code, look it up in the OBD-II guides at autodtcs.com.
