These instructions apply to the Suzuki Vitara Mk4 (LY) 2015-2024.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The Suzuki Vitara (LY) uses a separate dipped-beam and main-beam bulb in each headlight. On halogen cars the dipped beam is an H11 (55 W) and the main beam an HB3 (60 W), and both change from the engine bay in a few minutes.
Higher trims have LED headlights instead. LED units are sealed and not owner-serviceable — if an LED headlight fails, the whole unit is replaced by a Suzuki dealer.
How to replace a halogen headlight bulb on a Suzuki Vitara
- Switch the lights and ignition off and open the hood.
- At the back of the headlight, unplug the wiring connector by pressing its release catch.
- Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and withdraw it from the headlight.
- Fit the new bulb — H11 for dipped beam, HB3 for main beam — holding it by the metal base only, never the glass.
- Insert the holder and turn it clockwise to lock, then push the connector back on until it clicks.
- Test dipped and main beam, and check the aim against a wall.
Oil from your fingers on the glass creates a hot spot that shortens a halogen bulb’s life, so wipe a new bulb with alcohol if you touch it. Replace bulbs in pairs so both sides match.
Which bulbs does the Vitara use?
Dipped beam H11 (12V 55 W), main beam HB3 (12V 60 W), front fog H11 or H8, front turn signal PY21W, reversing light W21W. The tail/brake, daytime running and side-indicator lights are LED on most trims and are not separately replaceable.

What headlight bulb does a Suzuki Vitara take?
On halogen cars, an H11 (55 W) dipped-beam bulb and an HB3 (60 W) main-beam bulb per side. LED headlights are sealed and dealer-only.
Do I need to remove the bumper to change a Vitara headlight bulb?
No. The bulbs are reached from behind the headlight in the engine bay.
Can I replace an LED Vitara headlight bulb myself?
No — the LED units aren’t designed to be opened. A dealer replaces the complete headlight.
