These instructions apply to the Volkswagen Transporter T6 (SG) 2015-2019.

To change the Transporter T6’s front wiper blades you first need the arms in their raised service position. They will not lift far enough while parked normally, so the van has a simple stalk sequence to release them clear of the bonnet.
Put the T6 wipers in service position
- Make sure the bonnet is closed — the arms sweep up over the base of the windscreen and can foul an open bonnet.
- Turn the ignition on, then off again.
- Within a few seconds, push the wiper stalk down (the single wipe/flick direction).
- The wipers move up to the service position, standing proud of the glass.
- Remove the key. You can now lift the arms off the screen and swap the blades.
To bring the arms back down, fold them onto the glass, turn the ignition on and operate the wipers once — they return to their normal parked position.
Frequently asked questions
Why won’t my wipers lift off the screen?
Below the service position the arms hit a stop against the bonnet lip. Setting the service position moves them up past it so they hinge freely — forcing them without it can bend the arm or chip the paint.
The stalk did nothing — what did I miss?
The ignition-on-then-off step arms the function, and the stalk push has to follow within a few seconds. If you wait too long, repeat the sequence.
Which blades does the T6 take?
The T6 uses long flat-beam blades in two different lengths (driver and passenger). Check the size on the old blade or in the handbook before buying.
