After a service the maintenance reminder — a small spanner, or “maintenance key”, symbol — stays lit to tell you the next interval is due. Once the work is done you clear it yourself using the trip-meter reset button and the ignition. No tool is needed.

- Turn the ignition off.
- Press and hold the trip-meter reset button on the instrument cluster.
- While still holding the button, turn the ignition on (engine off).
- The maintenance key (spanner) symbol appears and a countdown begins on the display.
- Keep holding the button through the countdown until “0” appears, then release the button — the maintenance key symbol disappears.
- Turn the ignition off. The reminder is reset.
Good to know
No diagnostic tool is needed — the whole reset is done from the trip-reset button and the ignition, so there is nothing to plug in.
If the reminder did not clear, it is almost always down to timing. Make sure you are already holding the button before you turn the ignition on, and that you keep holding it all the way down to “0”. Then simply repeat the sequence.
FAQ
Do I need a scan tool to reset the Aygo maintenance light?
No. It is done entirely with the trip-meter reset button and the ignition — there is no need for a scan tool or a garage visit.
What is the maintenance key symbol?
It is the spanner-shaped service reminder that appears at each maintenance interval to prompt you that a service is due. Clearing it does not affect anything mechanical; it simply resets the interval counter.
How do I reset it?
Hold the trip-reset button, turn the ignition on with the engine off, and keep holding the button through the countdown until it reaches “0” and the spanner disappears.
It will not reset — what am I doing wrong?
Check the timing. You need to be holding the button before the ignition goes on, and keep holding it all the way to zero. Release too early and the counter will not clear — repeat the sequence and hold right through.
