A clogged cabin (pollen) filter is the usual cause of weak airflow, misting windows or a musty smell in a Citroën C4 (2010–2018). On this car the filter sits in the engine bay, on the passenger side under the plenum (scuttle) cover, and swapping it is a straightforward owner job.
How to replace the cabin filter on a Citroën C4
- Open the bonnet and locate the filter housing on the passenger side, below the scuttle cover.
- Undo the housing cover fasteners with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Slide the old filter out and fit the new one the same way round (watch the airflow arrow).
- Refit the cover and fasteners.
Fit a new filter every year or two, sooner if you drive in heavy traffic or dusty areas. Always match the airflow-direction arrow printed on the filter, or airflow and demisting will suffer.
