These instructions apply to the Mazda CX-5 Mk1 (KE) 2012-2017.

The Mazda CX-5 Mk1 (KE, 2012–2017) has two fuse boxes: one in the cabin, behind a panel on the left-hand side of the dashboard, and one in the engine bay. If an electrical item stops working, a blown fuse is the first thing to check — and swapping one is a job you can do at the roadside.
Where the Fuse Boxes Are
- Cabin fuse box — behind a removable trim panel at the left end of the dashboard (driver’s side on LHD cars). Check this one first for interior circuits.
- Engine-bay fuse box — a covered box under the hood. The plastic fuse puller clips inside this box.
How to Find and Change a Blown Fuse
- Switch the ignition and the affected accessory off before touching a fuse.
- Open the correct box and read the legend on the lid to find the fuse for the circuit that has failed.
- Pull the suspect fuse straight out with the fuse puller from the engine-bay box.
- Hold it to the light: a blown fuse has a broken or melted metal strip inside.
- Fit a new fuse of exactly the same amperage (printed on top and colour-coded) and push it in firmly.
- If you have no spare, you can borrow one of the same rating from a non-essential circuit such as the audio or accessory outlet to get going.
Use a genuine Mazda or equivalent fuse of the identical rating — never a higher one, which can let wiring overheat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the fuse box on a Mazda CX-5 (KE)?
There are two: one behind a panel at the left end of the dashboard, and one under the hood in the engine bay. The fuse puller lives in the engine-bay box.
The same fuse keeps blowing — what now?
A fuse that blows again points to a fault in that circuit. Stop using it and have the wiring or component checked rather than fitting fuse after fuse.
Can I replace the main fuse myself?
No. The high-amperage main fuse is a dealer item — if it has failed, have it done by a workshop.
If a warning light came on with the blown fuse, look up the stored code on autodtcs.com.
