For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The 12V battery on the Honda CR-V (RE, 2007-2012) is in the engine bay on the right-hand side. Disconnect it in the correct order to protect the electronics, and be ready to re-enter a few settings afterwards.

Disconnect

Honda CR-V Mk3 12V battery location in the engine bay
The 12V battery sits on the right side of the engine bay (LHD car shown).
  1. Turn everything off and remove the key. Have your radio anti-theft code to hand.
  2. Loosen and remove the negative (−) terminal first, and tuck the cable aside.
  3. Remove the positive (+) terminal.
  4. If removing the battery, undo the hold-down clamp and lift it out keeping it upright.

Reconnect

  1. Fit the battery and hold-down clamp first if it was removed.
  2. Connect the positive (+) terminal first, then the negative (−). Tighten both snugly.

After reconnecting

Disconnecting the battery clears some memories. You may need to:

  • Re-enter the radio anti-theft code and reset the clock.
  • Re-initialize the driver’s auto-up/down window and the moonroof if fitted.
  • Let the engine idle for a couple of minutes so it relearns a smooth idle.
