Find & Change a Fuse

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 6, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Honda CR-V Mk3 (RE) 2007-2012.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The Honda CR-V (RE, 2007-2012) has two fuse boxes: one under the hood near the battery and one inside the cabin at the lower end of the dashboard on the driver’s side.

Find and change a fuse

  1. Locate the correct box: engine-bay box for most high-current and engine circuits, interior box for cabin electrics.
  2. Unclip the lid. The legend printed on the lid (or the plastic puller area) tells you which fuse controls what — use that, as assignments vary by trim and market.
  3. Switch off the ignition and the affected circuit.
  4. Pull the suspect fuse straight out with the plastic puller clipped inside the box. A blown fuse has a broken metal strip.
  5. Fit a new fuse of the same amperage (same color). Never fit a higher rating or bridge it with metal.
  6. If the new fuse blows again, there is a fault in that circuit — have it diagnosed.

High-current fuses for safety systems (airbag, ABS) should be left to a technician.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the fuse list for my car? On the underside of each fuse-box lid. It is the only chart guaranteed to match your exact CR-V.

A fuse keeps blowing. That is a short or overload, not a fuse fault — stop replacing it and get the circuit checked.
