These instructions apply to the Suzuki Vitara Mk4 (LY) 2015-2024.

The cabin (pollen) filter on the Suzuki Vitara (LY) sits behind the glovebox and cleans the air coming through the heater and air conditioning. Changing it restores airflow, clears musty smells and is an easy job with no tools — Suzuki schedules it roughly every 15,000 km or 12 months.
How to replace the cabin filter on a Suzuki Vitara
- Open the glovebox fully.
- Release the stay/clip on the right-hand side of the glovebox so it can drop further.
- Press the two sides of the glovebox inward to free them from the rails, and swing the glovebox down out of the way.
- You now see the rectangular filter cover. Open or unclip the cover.
- Slide the old filter element out, noting the airflow arrow on its frame.
- Fit the new filter with the UP mark facing up and the airflow arrow pointing the same way as the old one.
- Refit the cover, then swing the glovebox back up and clip both sides back onto the rails and reconnect the stay.
If you can’t remember which way the old filter sat, the arrow on the filter frame shows airflow direction — it normally points downward, into the blower.
How often should the Vitara cabin filter be changed?
About every 15,000 km (9,000 miles) or 12 months, and sooner if you drive in dusty areas or notice weak airflow or a stale smell from the vents.
