These instructions apply to the Toyota Camry Mk7 (XV50) 2012-2017.

Where you connect to jump-start a 2012–2017 Toyota Camry depends on the model. The gas car uses the under-hood battery; the Hybrid has a dedicated jump terminal in the trunk, next to its 12V battery.
Gas Camry
- Open the hood. Connect a red clamp to the dead car’s (+), the other red clamp to the donor’s (+), a black clamp to the donor’s (−), and the last black clamp to an unpainted metal ground on your engine.
- Start the donor car and let it idle about 5 minutes.
- Start your Camry, then remove the cables in the exact reverse order.
Camry Hybrid
- Open the trunk and remove the 12V battery cover. Connect the red clamp to the exclusive jump-starting terminal (the + post beside the trunk battery), then red to the donor’s (+), black to the donor’s (−), and the last black to the trunk ground point shown in the manual.
- Start the donor car and let it idle about 5 minutes.
- Switch the POWER switch to ON and start the hybrid system, then confirm the READY indicator lights. Remove the cables in reverse order.
Never push-start either model — it can damage the catalytic converter on the gas car or the hybrid system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you jump-start a Camry Hybrid?
From the “exclusive jump-starting terminal” in the trunk, next to the 12V battery — not under the hood. Confirm the READY light after starting.
Can I jump a Camry from the engine bay?
On the gas Camry, yes — the battery is under the hood. The Hybrid’s battery is in the trunk, so you use the trunk jump terminal instead.
The Hybrid started but there’s no READY light — now what?
If READY doesn’t come on, the 12V battery or hybrid system needs attention — have it checked by a dealer.
