These instructions apply to the Chevrolet Impala Mk9 (W-body) 2006-2013.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The 2006–2013 Chevrolet Impala (W-body) uses the GM Oil Life System and shows CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON when a service is due. After an oil and filter change you reset it from the Driver Information Center. This is the US-market procedure.
- Switch the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off.
- Use the vehicle-information button to display OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
- Press and hold the SET/RESET button for more than five seconds until the oil life changes to 100%.
If CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON returns at the next start, the reset didn’t take — repeat it. (This generation uses the SET/RESET button, not an accelerator-pedal method.)

If your Impala stores a fault code with the warning light, look it up on autodtcs.com.
