These instructions apply to the Chevrolet Suburban (GMT900) 2007-2014.

Any electrical job on a 2007–2014 Chevrolet Suburban starts by disconnecting the 12 V battery — negative off first, negative on last, so a slipped wrench can’t bridge the live post to the body. This is the US-market procedure.
- Ignition off, key out, doors shut a minute or two so the modules power down; wear eye protection.
- Open the hood. On the Suburban the 12 V battery sits under the hood in the engine compartment.
- Undo and lift off the negative (−, black) cable first; fold it clear of the post.
- Then take off the positive (+, red) cable. Reverse to reconnect — positive first, negative last.
- Switch on, check for warning lights, and re-set the clock and radio presets.
FAQ
Is the battery in the back of this long SUV?
No — despite the Suburban’s length, the 12 V battery is under the hood in the engine bay, just as on the Tahoe.
Which cable first?
Negative first off, negative last on.
What re-learns afterward?
The clock and radio presets, and the TPMS (relearn with the key fob). An airbag can still deploy briefly after the battery is disconnected — stay clear of the airbag zones.
If your Suburban stores a fault code with the warning light, decode it on autodtcs.com.
