Set the Wipers to Service Position

These instructions apply to the Cupra Formentor Mk1 (KM) 2020-present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

Changing the blades or freeing them from ice on a Cupra Formentor (KM, 2020–present) means first lifting the wiper arms into their service position. Park them normally and they sit under the bonnet lip out of reach — here’s the proper way up.

Why the Service Position Exists

The Formentor tucks its wipers below the bonnet trim. Dragging them up from there strains the linkage and can crack the trim, so there’s a built-in lift mode.

Raising the Wipers

  1. Check the bonnet is shut — the mode won’t arm otherwise.
  2. Switch the ignition on, then off.
  3. Within a few seconds, flick the wiper stalk down (single-wipe) briefly.
  4. The arms sweep up and hold vertical.
  5. Pull them off the glass to change blades or clear snow.

Putting Them Back

Lay the arms back down, then switch the ignition on and run the wipers once to return them to park.

Won’t Lift?

  • Too slow — the stalk only works for a few seconds after ignition-off; retry.
  • Bonnet ajar — latch it fully.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set the Cupra Formentor wipers to service position?

Ignition off, then flick the wiper stalk down within a few seconds; the arms stand up.

Why won’t they lift normally?

They deliberately park low. Use the service mode rather than forcing them.

How do I lower them again?

Fold them down, ignition on, run the wipers once.

Tools?

None — just the wiper stalk.
