Put the Wipers in Service Position

These instructions apply to the Genesis GV70 (JK1) 2020-2024. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 10, 2026

To change the wiper blades on your Genesis GV70 (JK1, 2020–2024), the arms first need to be lifted into their service position. Park them normally and they sit low under the bonnet lip where you can’t reach them. Here’s how to raise them.

Before You Start

  • Make sure the bonnet is closed — the arms swing up high.
  • Have the new blades ready before you begin.

Moving the Wipers to Service Position

  1. Stop the vehicle and switch the ignition off.
  2. Within 20 seconds, hold the wiper stalk in the ‘MIST’ position for about 2 seconds.
  3. The wipers move up to the service position, clear of the bonnet, where you can lift the arms and swap the blades.

Returning to Normal

After fitting the new blades, lower the arms back onto the glass, then switch the ignition on and operate the wipers once — they return to their normal park position.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I put the GV70 wipers in service position?

Ignition off, then within 20 seconds hold the stalk in MIST for 2 seconds — the arms rise clear of the bonnet.

Why won’t the wipers lift?

You must act within 20 seconds of switching the ignition off.

Do I need a tool?

No — it’s done with the wiper stalk and ignition.

Can I just pull the arms up instead?

Use the service position — forcing parked arms against the stop can damage the linkage.

If a wiper fault light appears afterwards, look up the code on autodtcs.com.
