The Honda CR-V (RE, 2007-2012) air conditioning uses R134a refrigerant. The under-hood label confirms the type, and the system holds roughly 440-490 g (petrol) or about 465 g (diesel), with PAG compressor oil to ISO 46 (SP10 / ND-8).

Can I regas it myself?
No — a proper regas is a workshop job. The system must be recovered and evacuated under vacuum with recovery equipment, then charged by weight. Cheap “top-up” cans over-fill the system, skip the vacuum step and can damage the compressor, so they are not recommended.
When a regas is due
- Cooling is weak even at maximum on a hot day.
- The system has been open for a repair (condenser, compressor, hoses).
- It has been several years — systems lose a small amount of refrigerant over time.
If cooling drops suddenly, suspect a leak rather than just low gas, and have it traced before recharging.
