Specifications

These instructions apply to the Kia Picanto Mk2 (TA) 2011-2017.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Full factory specifications for the second-generation Kia Picanto (TA, 2011–2017), covering the 1.0 and 1.25 Kappa petrol engines. Figures below are drawn from the Kia build sheet, the European owner’s manual, and the door-pillar labels on the car itself.

Kia Picanto TA door-pillar tire pressure placard
The door-pillar placard on the Picanto TA — pressures vary by wheel size (155/70 R13 & 165/60 R14 vs 175/50 R15), confirming the table above (LHD car shown).

Use the table to check engine output, fluid capacities, battery size, and the correct cold tire pressures before any service.

Each column is one specific vehicle — a single engine or motor and, where shown, body style. Dimensions and several weights are specific to that body and drivetrain; other body or powertrain versions differ, so match the column to your own vehicle.

Cold tire pressures

The Picanto TA carries its tire-pressure label on the driver’s-side door pillar. The values below are read directly from that placard and apply to every standard wheel size fitted to this generation (155/70 R13, 165/60 R14, and 175/50 R15).

ConditionFrontRear
Up to 3 occupants (normal)2.3 bar / 33 psi2.1 bar / 31 psi
Full load (4–5 + luggage)2.5 bar / 36 psi2.5 bar / 36 psi
Compact spare (T105/70 D14)4.2 bar / 60 psi

Always set pressures cold, before the car has been driven more than a mile. Warm tires read 0.3–0.4 bar higher — do not bleed air to correct this. The compact spare is for temporary use only, at speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph).

  • Fuel tank: 35 litres.
  • Engine oil: 2.9 L (1.0) or 3.6 L (1.25) of 5W-20, API SM / ILSAC GF-4.
  • Battery: 40 Ah, in the engine compartment.
  • Wheel-nut torque: 88–107 Nm (9–11 kg·m).

Frequently asked questions

Does the Kia Picanto TA have a timing belt or a chain?

The 1.0 and 1.25 Kappa engines use a timing chain, which is designed to last the life of the engine and has no fixed replacement interval under normal use.

What oil does a 2011–2017 Picanto take?

Kia specifies 5W-20 (API SM / ILSAC GF-4 or better) for Europe. A 1.0 holds 2.9 litres on a drain-and-refill; the 1.25 holds 3.6 litres.

How big is the Picanto’s fuel tank?

35 litres for every TA variant, petrol or LPG.
