Home/Mazda/3/Mk4 (BP) 2019-Present/Reset the Service Indicator

Reset the Service Indicator

These instructions apply to the Mazda 3 Mk4 (BP) 2019-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 5, 2026

When the spanner or an oil-maintenance message appears on your Mazda 3 Mk4 (BP, 2019–present), the oil-service counter has run out. Mazda puts the reset inside the central display (the rotary-controlled screen), so you can clear it yourself in a few taps once the oil and filter are done.

Reset After the Oil Change Only

The counter just tracks distance and time since the last reset — it doesn’t sense the oil. Clear it only once fresh oil and a new filter are fitted.

How to Reset the Mazda 3 Mk4 Oil Service

  1. Turn the ignition on (engine off).
  2. Using the central display / Commander control, select ‘Information’.
  3. Select ‘Vehicle status’.
  4. Select ‘Maintenance’.
  5. Select ‘Reset oil change interval’ and confirm — the oil service is reset.

If the Reminder Returns

  • It comes back at start-up — the reset wasn’t confirmed; repeat to the ‘Reset’ step.
  • A different warning is on — that’s a fault, not the service timer, and won’t clear this way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the service reset on the Mazda 3 Mk4?

In the central display: Information → Vehicle status → Maintenance → Reset oil change interval, using the Commander dial or touchscreen.

Do I need a diagnostic tool?

No — it’s all done from the car’s display with the ignition on.

Does the engine need to run?

No — ignition on, engine off, is the right position.

The message came back — why?

The reset didn’t confirm. Repeat it; if it returns, have the car scanned.

If a warning light appeared with the service message, look it up on autodtcs.com. After battery work, see our Mazda 3 Mk4 battery guide.
