These instructions apply to the Mazda CX-5 Mk3 (KM) 2025-Present.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The third-generation (KM) Mazda CX-5 no longer has the physical i-stop OFF button found on the previous KF model. You turn the stop/start system off through the touchscreen instead. The setting is temporary — i-stop switches itself back on the next time you start the engine.
Before you start
- Start the engine and let the Mazda Connect display finish loading.
- There is no permanent-off option; expect to repeat this each drive if you want i-stop disabled.
- Start the engine so the vehicle is running normally.
- On the centre display, open the Dynamics (vehicle/dynamics controls) shortcut.
- Locate the i-stop entry within those controls.
- Toggle i-stop off; the on-screen indicator should show the system is now disabled.
- Confirm the i-stop status light on the instrument cluster reflects the off state.
FAQ
Does the KM CX-5 have an i-stop button on the dashboard?
No. The dedicated i-stop OFF button was dropped for this generation. The only way to disable it is through the Dynamics controls on the Mazda Connect touchscreen.
Will i-stop stay off after I switch the car off?
No. The setting resets at the next engine start, so the system re-enables automatically. There is no menu option to keep it permanently disabled — you toggle it off again each time you drive.
Why won’t i-stop activate even when it’s switched on?
i-stop only engages when its conditions are met — for example a sufficiently charged battery, a warmed engine, and suitable climate demand. If any condition isn’t satisfied the engine simply keeps running at a stop, which is normal behaviour rather than a fault.
