What the GLC Service Message Means

A and B Service — What’s the Difference

ASSYST PLUS decides which letter is due and displays it for you, so you don’t have to guess — you reset the counter after whichever one has actually been carried out. Getting Ready

Only reset ASSYST PLUS after the service work is finished — the fresh oil is in, the filter is changed and any B-service items are done. Resetting first just restarts the clock on old oil and hides the reminder without doing anything useful. Then:

• Park on level ground with the handbrake or electronic park brake applied.
• Have the ignition on with the engine off for the reset itself — you do not need to run the engine.
• No tools are required; the whole thing is done with the steering-wheel buttons and the cluster menu.
• Make sure the doors, bonnet and boot are shut before you begin.

How to Reset the GLC Service Indicator

1. Close the bonnet, boot and all doors.
2. Turn the ignition to position 2 (or press start without the brake on keyless cars).

If It Doesn’t Reset

The ASSYST PLUS reset is reliable once you reach the right menu, so most problems come down to the ignition state or the menu step. Work through these before assuming anything is wrong:

• A door, bonnet or boot is open — the workshop menu won’t arm while something is ajar; close everything and retry.
• The engine is running — the reset wants ignition on, engine off. If you pressed start with your foot on the brake, switch off and re-enter with ignition only.
• You reached the display but didn’t confirm — step right through ASSYST PLUS → Full service → confirm. If you back out before the confirmation, nothing is saved.
• Wrong sub-menu — make sure you are in the service/workshop area and not just the trip computer read-outs.
• Still stuck — turn the ignition fully off, wait a few seconds, then cycle it back on and repeat the sequence from the start.

What Happens Next

Once the reset confirms, the wrench symbol and the A/B message clear immediately and the ASSYST PLUS counter jumps back up to a full interval. From then on it begins counting down again from the day of the reset, blending distance, time and driving conditions as before. If the spanner clears now but reappears a short time later, the confirmation step didn’t take — run the sequence again to the end.

Because the GLC uses a flexible, condition-based schedule rather than a single fixed mileage, the gap between services varies with how you drive.
