These instructions apply to the RAM 1500 Mk5 (DT) 2019-present.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The RAM 1500 (DT, 2019 onward) works out its own oil-change interval from a duty-cycle algorithm and shows a “Oil Change Due” / “Change Oil” message when service is near. After you change the oil, clear the reminder yourself from the instrument-cluster menu with the steering-wheel buttons — no scan tool or dealer visit.

- Without pressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE START/STOP button once to place the ignition in ON/RUN — do not start the engine.
- Using the arrow buttons on the right-hand side of the steering wheel, push the down arrow to scroll through the cluster main menu to “Vehicle Info.”
- Push the right arrow to open the “Oil Life” screen.
- Push and hold OK until the oil life resets to 100% (the gauge and percentage update). Release, then start the engine to confirm the message is gone.
Frequently asked questions
The “Change Oil” message came back after I restarted — why?
The reset didn’t take. Set the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off, return to Vehicle Info → Oil Life, and hold OK until the value clearly updates to 100% before starting.
Do I have to reset it after every oil change?
Yes. The indicator is algorithm-based, not a fixed mileage countdown — it only recalculates a fresh interval once you reset it.
My truck has the large digital cluster — is the path different?
No. The route is the same on every DT cluster: Vehicle Info → Oil Life → hold OK. Premium clusters simply label the screen “Oil Life %”.
If a maintenance or oil-pressure warning light is also on, scan for stored codes first — you can look them up on autodtcs.com before clearing anything.
