Reset the Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPMS)

These instructions apply to the Renault Captur Mk1 (X87) 2013-2020. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 12, 2026

When the tyre-pressure warning comes on in your Renault Captur Mk1 (X87, 2013–2020), it usually means the system needs to relearn your current pressures after a check, top-up or wheel change. You start the relearn from the on-board menu, then drive a short distance. This guide shows how.

When to Reset

  • After checking or adjusting the tyre pressures (including seasonal changes).
  • After changing one or more wheels or tyres.
  • After reconnecting the battery.

Set Your Pressures First

The reset stores whatever pressures are in the tyres at that moment, so they must be correct first. Set all four (cold) to the figures on the placard in the driver’s door aperture or fuel flap, using the laden column for a full load. Never reset with a tyre already low.

How to Relearn the Captur Tyre Pressures

  1. Make sure all four tyres are at the correct cold pressure.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Using the on-board computer button on the wiper/indicator stalk, press the button repeatedly to scroll until “Learning the tyre pressure” (or the tyre-pressure store option) appears on the display.
  4. Press and hold the two on-board buttons together until a confirmation message is shown.
  5. Drive the vehicle for about 3 minutes. The new pressures are stored and the warning clears.

If your Captur has the “SET” tyre-pressure reset option in the vehicle/settings menu instead, select that and confirm, then drive.

Light Won’t Go Out? Work Through This

  • A tyre is genuinely low: the system is doing its job — find and fix the leak, re-inflate, then relearn.
  • Not stored: repeat the menu steps and confirm, then drive the full 3 minutes.
  • Flashing (not steady) warning: on sensor-equipped cars a flashing light points to a sensor fault rather than a low tyre — the car may store a code you can look up on autodtcs.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start the tyre-pressure learn on a Captur?

Scroll the on-board menu to the tyre-pressure store/learn option, hold the buttons until it confirms, then drive about 3 minutes.

Do I have to drive after resetting?

Yes — the Captur stores the new values over about 3 minutes of driving after you start the relearn.

Why does the warning come back a few days later?

Either a tyre is slowly losing air, or you relearned while a tyre was already low. Re-check all four cold pressures and reset again.

Do I need to reset after just topping up the air?

Yes — any pressure change shifts the reference, so relearn after any adjustment.

After tyre or seasonal-wheel work it is worth confirming the service reminder is clear — see our Renault Captur service indicator reset guide.
