Home/Toyota/Tacoma/Mk3 (N300) 2016-2023/Reset the Maintenance Light

Reset the Maintenance Light

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 12, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Toyota Tacoma Mk3 (N300) 2016-2023.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma (N300) shows its service reminder on the multi-information display, and you clear it from the display menu after an oil change — no trip-meter trick on this generation. This is the US-market procedure.

  1. With the ignition ON, use the < / > meter-control switches to bring up the multi-information display.
  2. Scroll with up/down to Settings and press the center button.
  3. Select Maintenance Reset and press.
  4. Select YES and press. The reminder is cleared.

FAQ

Is there a trip-meter method?

No — the N300 Tacoma uses the Settings → Maintenance Reset menu on the multi-information display, not the older hold-the-trip-button method.

When do I reset it?

Only after the service is done; the reminder is mileage-based.

Engine running or off?

The ignition only needs to be ON — you don’t have to start the engine to reach the menu.

What oil does it take?

0W-20 on both the 2.7L four (about 6.2 qt with a filter) and the 3.5L V6 (about 6.1–6.2 qt).

If your Tacoma stores a fault code with the warning light, look it up on autodtcs.com.
