The OBD-II diagnostic socket on the Toyota Verso (AR20, 2009–2018) is where a code reader, scan tool or Bluetooth dongle plugs in to talk to the car’s computers. It is the first thing to find when a warning light appears, and on the Verso it is tucked under the dashboard on the driver’s side.
Where to find it
Sit in the driver’s seat and look under the dashboard, above the pedals, in the lower trim to the left of the steering column — near the bonnet-release lever. The 16-pin connector faces downwards in that recess. It is in deep shade, so you will often feel for it before you see it; a torch helps.
Using the port
- Make sure the ignition is off before plugging in.
- Push the scan tool’s plug firmly into the 16-pin socket — it only fits one way.
- Turn the ignition on (engine off) to read and clear codes; start the engine for live sensor data.
- Unplug the tool afterwards — a dongle left in permanently can slowly drain the battery.

- Read and clear fault codes when the check-engine, ABS or airbag light comes on.
- Watch live data — coolant temperature, fuel trims, sensor values — to trace a running fault.
- Check readiness monitors before an emissions test.
