Home/Vauxhall/Vivaro/Mk2 (B) 2014-2019/Reinitialise the Electric Windows

Reinitialise the Electric Windows

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated September 25, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Vauxhall Vivaro Mk2 (B) 2014-2019.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

If a one-touch window on a Vauxhall Vivaro (2014–2019) stops working — the glass won’t run all the way up or down on a single press — the motor has usually lost its memory after a flat or disconnected battery. Re-initialising takes seconds and no tools.

The Vivaro B (2014–2019) is the second-generation Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro and the last one based on the Renault Trafic — long one of the UK’s best-selling medium vans. The 2019-on Vivaro C is a different, PSA-based van.

Re-initialise the Electric Windows

The driver-door electric window switches — hold the close switch to the top to reinitialise one-touch. Shared across the Trafic, Talento, NV300 and Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro; LHD van shown.
  1. Sit in the driver’s seat with the ignition on.
  2. Hold the close switch for the driver’s window until the glass is fully closed.
  3. Keep holding for about one more second, then release.
  4. Test — a quick press should now run it fully on its own.
  5. Repeat for the passenger’s window.

If It Still Won’t Auto-Close

Hold at the top firmly — releasing early is the usual reason it doesn’t take. If a window is slow or notchy the regulator or runs may need attention, and one-touch is disabled while battery voltage is low, so charge a tired battery first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Vivaro B the same as the newer Vivaro?

No. The Vivaro B (2014–2019) shares the Renault Trafic platform, so these guides apply to it and its NV300 and Talento siblings. The 2019-on Vivaro C moved to the PSA/Stellantis platform and is a different van with different procedures.

Why has my Vauxhall Vivaro window stopped going up on one touch?

Almost always because the battery went flat or was disconnected, wiping the window’s memory — re-initialise by holding the switch a second past the top.

How do I reset the windows?

Ignition on, hold the close switch until fully up, keep holding about a second more, release, test, then repeat the other side.

Is it the same as a Renault Trafic?

Yes — as the Renault Trafic-based Vivaro B it uses the same window system, so the re-initialisation is identical across the Renault Trafic, Fiat Talento and Nissan NV300.
