These instructions apply to the Volkswagen Transporter T6 (SG) 2015-2019.

After an oil or inspection service the Transporter T6 shows a spanner reminder in the cluster. On vans with a fixed service schedule you can clear it yourself with the reset button and the ignition — no VAG tester needed. Do the service work first, then reset.
Reset the T6 service indicator
- Apply the parking brake. On a DSG van move the lever to P; on a manual select neutral.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Press and hold the reset button (the trip/OK button on the wiper stalk or the “0.0” button by the cluster).
- Turn the ignition on. The display asks “Reset oil change service?”.
- Release the button, then press it briefly to confirm. The oil-service interval is now reset.
- For the inspection reminder, repeat the same steps — the display will instead ask “Reset inspection service?”.
This works on vans with the fixed maintenance schedule. Vans set to the flexible (LongLife) schedule can only be reset with VAG diagnostic equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the reset button on the T6?
It is the trip-reset button — either the button on the end of the wiper stalk or the small button next to the instrument cluster that you normally use to switch the trip display.
Nothing appears on the display when I turn the ignition on — why?
You must be holding the button as the ignition comes on. Switch off, press and hold first, then turn the ignition on and watch for the reset prompt.
Does resetting change when the next service is due?
Yes — it restarts the interval, so only reset after the work is actually done, or the van will ask for service too late.
If a warning light other than the service spanner is on, you can look the fault code up on autodtcs.com.
