Reset the Oil Maintenance Reminder

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated August 27, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Mazda CX-5 Mk3 (KM) 2025-Present.

After an oil change on the third-generation (KM) Mazda CX-5, the engine-oil maintenance reminder is cleared from the Mazda Connect touchscreen. There is no dashboard button combination on this generation — the counter is menu-driven, so the whole job takes under a minute.

Before you start

  • Only reset the reminder after the oil and filter have actually been changed, or the system will overstate the remaining oil life.
  • Switch the ignition on so the centre display is fully awake; the vehicle can be stationary.
  1. Turn the ignition on and wait for the Mazda Connect home screen to load on the centre display.
  2. From the home screen, select Maintenance.
  3. Open Maintenance Details.
  4. Select the distance until engine oil replacement entry.
  5. Choose the option to reset that item and confirm when prompted.
  6. Check that the remaining distance returns to its full value, then close the menu.

FAQ

Is there a button combination to reset the oil reminder on the KM CX-5?

No. Unlike some older cars, the third-generation CX-5 has no accelerator-and-ignition sequence for the oil reminder. It is reset entirely through Maintenance > Maintenance Details on the Mazda Connect screen.

The oil-change message keeps returning shortly after I reset it. Why?

If the reminder reappears quickly, the reset was most likely not confirmed, or a different maintenance item was selected. Reopen Maintenance Details, choose the engine-oil replacement line specifically, and confirm the reset so the distance counter starts again from full.

Can I reset it while the engine is running?

You only need the ignition on and the display active; the car can be parked with the engine off in accessory mode. Keeping the vehicle stationary makes it easier to work through the menu safely.
