After an oil change or scheduled service on the Hyundai ix35 (LM), the service reminder on the dashboard needs to be cleared so it counts down to the next interval correctly. It is done from the driver’s seat using the reset button on the instrument cluster, with no garage visit required.
- Turn the ignition on but leave the engine off.
- Press and hold the reset button on the instrument cluster (the trip-meter/reset button) for at least 5 seconds, until the service indicator starts to flash or change.
- Within 5 seconds, press and hold the same button again for 1 to 5 seconds to confirm.
- Release the button. The service reminder clears and the interval restarts from the beginning.
Good to know
No diagnostic tool is needed for this reset — it is done entirely from the dashboard button. If the reminder comes back, make sure the ignition was on with the engine not running, then repeat the two-part press.
This sequence is for European-specification cars. Non-European versions of the ix35 use a slightly different procedure, so if your car was not supplied for the European market the exact button timing may vary.
FAQ
Do I need a scan tool to reset the ix35 service light?
No. This is a dashboard-button reset carried out with the instrument cluster reset button and the ignition on — no scan tool or garage equipment is required.
Why does my service light keep coming back?
Almost always because the two-part hold was not completed. The first long press starts the indicator flashing, and you must follow it within 5 seconds with a second 1-to-5-second hold to confirm. If that second press is missed, the reminder is not saved as cleared.
Which button do I use?
The reset button on the instrument cluster — the same trip-meter/reset button you use to switch and zero the trip odometer.
