Set the Clock & Enter the Radio Code

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 6, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Honda CR-V Mk3 (RE) 2007-2012.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

After the battery is disconnected, the Honda CR-V (RE, 2007-2012) clock resets and the radio asks for its anti-theft code (it shows “CODE” or “Enter code”). Both are quick to restore.

Enter the radio code

Honda CR-V factory radio with CLOCK and anti-theft code entry
The factory audio unit; CLOCK sets the time and the anti-theft code is entered here.
  1. Turn the ignition to ON and switch the radio on; it should display “CODE”.
  2. Using the preset station buttons (1-5), enter your car’s 5-digit audio code.
  3. The radio returns to normal once the correct code is accepted. If it shows “Err” or locks, wait as instructed and re-enter carefully.

Your code is on the audio/radio card in the service booklet or wallet. If you do not have it, a Honda dealer can retrieve it from the radio serial number and VIN.

Set the clock

  1. Press and hold the CLOCK button until the time digits flash.
  2. Use the tuning/selector controls to set the hours and minutes.
  3. Press CLOCK again to store the time.

Frequently asked questions

I don’t have the radio code. A Honda dealer can look it up from the radio serial number (shown on screen with a button combination) and your VIN.

Will the radio lock permanently? After several wrong attempts it may make you wait before trying again — leave the ignition on and follow the on-screen wait time.
