When you turn the ignition on, the Suzuki Splash (2008-2014) briefly lights most of its warning symbols as a bulb check, then they go out once the engine starts. A light that stays on is telling you something. Here are the ones that matter most.

Red lights – stop and check
- Brake (!) / circle: parking brake still on, or low brake fluid. If it stays on with the handbrake released, check the fluid and do not keep driving.
- Oil can: low oil pressure. Stop the engine as soon as it is safe and check the oil level.
- Battery: the charging system is not keeping up – suspect the alternator or belt.
- Seatbelt / door: a belt is unbuckled or a door is not shut.
Orange / amber lights – get it checked soon
- Engine (check-engine): an emissions or engine-management fault is stored. Have the code read.
- ABS: the anti-lock system has a fault; normal braking still works.
- ESP / traction (skidding car): stability control fault, or the system is switched off.
- Glow plug (coil) – diesel only: steady when preheating; flashing indicates a fault.
- Power steering (EPS): electric steering assistance fault – steering gets heavier.
- Immobiliser / key: the key is not recognised; the engine may not start.

Frequently asked questions
A light came on and stayed on – can I keep driving? Red lights mean stop and investigate. Amber lights mean the car is usually still drivable, but get it checked soon.
How do I find out exactly what is wrong? A fault code read from the OBD-II port gives the specific cause behind an engine or ABS light.
