Replace the Cabin (Pollen) Filter

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 14, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Hyundai i10 Mk1 (PA) 2008-2013.

On air-conditioned Hyundai i10 (2008-2013) models, the climate control (pollen) filter sits behind the glovebox. Replacing it restores airflow and cuts pollen, dust and odors.

The i10 pollen filter sits in the heater housing behind the glovebox – a Bosch element here, with the airflow arrow pointing down. Match that arrow when you fit the new one. LHD car shown.

Replace the filter

  1. Open the glovebox and empty it.
  2. Release the glovebox from its stops (squeeze the sides inward or unhook the damper arm) so it swings down.

With the stops released, the glovebox swings right down so you can reach the filter cover behind it.
  3. Unclip the filter cover behind it and slide the old filter out, noting which way up it sits.
  4. Check the airflow arrow on the new filter and fit it the same way the old one came out.
  5. Refit the cover and lift the glovebox back onto its stops.

Replace the filter about once a year, or sooner on dusty roads or when airflow from the vents drops.

Frequently asked questions

Does my i10 have a cabin filter?

Only cars fitted with air conditioning have one; basic non-AC models often have an empty housing or a blanking panel instead. If there is nothing behind the cover, your car was not fitted with one.

How often should the i10 cabin filter be changed?

About once a year or every 15,000 km (10,000 miles), and sooner if you drive on dusty roads or notice weak airflow or a musty smell from the vents.

Which cabin filter fits the Hyundai i10 (PA)?

Any standard particulate (pollen) element for the i10 PA. The car shown here had a Bosch 1 987 432 184 fitted; match the airflow arrow on the new filter to the direction marked in the housing, and compare the size against your old filter before buying.
