Replace the Wiper Blades

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 7, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Honda Accord Mk8 (CP/CS) 2008-2012.

The North American Accord (2008–2012) uses hook-fitting wiper blades that clip off and on in a minute. The two front blades are different lengths, so check each one as you remove it.

This is the North American Accord. For the European Accord (CU/CW, 2008–2015) see the European guide.

How to replace the wiper blades on a Honda Accord (2008–2012)

  1. Lift the wiper arm off the glass until it stays up on its own.
  2. Turn the blade across the arm and press the release tab at the hook.
  3. Slide the old blade down off the J-hook and unhook it.
  4. Clip the new blade on until it clicks, then lower the arm gently back onto the glass.
  5. Repeat for the other side.

The front blades are typically about 24 in (600 mm) on the driver’s side and 19 in (475 mm) on the passenger’s side. Sizes vary slightly by build, so confirm against the length marked on the blade you remove before buying.

Support the raised arm so it can’t spring back onto bare glass while the blade is off — a dropped bare arm chips the windshield.

Frequently asked questions

What size wipers does the Accord take?

Front blades are around 24 in (driver) and 19 in (passenger) on the 2008–2012 sedan. Always verify against the blade you are removing, as it varies a little by build.

How do I get the old blade off?

Lift the arm, turn the blade across it, press the release tab at the J-hook, and slide the blade down and off. The new one clips straight on until it clicks.

How often should they be replaced?

About once a year, or sooner if they streak, chatter or skip. Rubber hardens with sun and age even on a low-mileage car.
