If the Accord’s battery is disconnected or goes dead, the audio unit locks and shows ENTER CODE the next time you switch it on. You restore it by keying the car’s 5-digit anti-theft code with the radio presets — no dealer visit needed if you have the code.
This is the North American Accord. For the European Accord (CU/CW, 2008–2015) see the European guide.
How to enter the radio code on a Honda Accord (2008–2012)
- Turn the ignition to ON (II) and switch the audio on — the display reads ENTER CODE.
- Find the 5-digit code on the anti-theft code card (usually in the glovebox wallet or service booklet).
- Key the five digits in with the radio’s preset buttons, following the card.
- The unit accepts the code and switches on normally.
- Reset your station presets and the clock, which were cleared with it.
After ten wrong attempts the system locks and you must leave it switched on for one hour before trying again, so enter the digits carefully. Navigation-equipped cars ask for a PIN instead of a radio code.
Lost the card? A Honda dealer can recover the code from the audio unit’s serial number, which is on a label on the unit itself.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my Accord radio asking for a code?
The anti-theft lockout triggers whenever the audio loses power — a dead battery, a battery disconnect, or a blown audio fuse. It is normal, not a fault.
Where is the code?
On the anti-theft card supplied with the car. If it is missing, a dealer can look it up from the audio unit’s serial number.
What if I enter it wrong?
You get ten tries, then the unit locks for an hour with the ignition on before accepting input again. Double-check the digits first.
