These instructions apply to the Dodge Challenger Mk3 (LC) 2008-2023.

Because the 2008-2023 Dodge Challenger’s battery is in the trunk, you jump it from the remote posts under the hood, not the battery itself. They’re on the right side of the engine compartment. This is the US-market procedure.
- Set the parking brake, automatic in P, ignition off; turn off the heater, radio and accessories. Park a 12 V donor within reach, not touching.
- Open the hood and find the remote posts on the right side (standing at the right fender): remote positive (+) and remote negative (−).
- Clamp the red (+) cable to the Challenger’s remote positive (+), then to the donor’s positive (+).
- Clamp the black (−) cable to the donor’s negative (−), then to the Challenger’s remote negative (−) post — use that ground point only.
- Start the donor, let it idle a few minutes, then start the Challenger. Remove the cables in the exact reverse order.
FAQ
Where do I connect — the trunk battery?
No — use the remote positive and negative posts under the hood, on the right side of the engine bay. They’re there precisely because the battery is in the trunk.
Why not ground to the trunk battery?
Dodge specifies the remote negative post as the ground point; connecting to the trunk battery’s negative is both awkward and against the procedure.
It won’t start after a jump.
Let the donor run a few minutes first; a repeat failure means the battery or alternator needs testing.
The Challenger shares its LX platform, drivetrains and these procedures with the four-door Dodge Charger.
