Specifications, Dimensions and Weights

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 14, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Chevrolet Impala Mk9 (W-body) 2006-2013.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Full specifications for the ninth-generation Chevrolet Impala (W-body, 2006-2013), by engine — the 3.5L and 3.9L V6s and the front-drive 5.3L V8 SS. All three used GM’s 4-speed automatic. Power and EPA figures are cross-checked; the 3.9L dropped from 242 hp (2006) to 233 hp when it gained variable valve timing in 2007, and the V8 SS rating fell with the 2008 EPA method change.

Each column is one specific vehicle — a single engine or motor and, where shown, body style. Dimensions and several weights are specific to that body and drivetrain; other body or powertrain versions differ, so match the column to your own vehicle.

Sources: Owner's manual. Where an owner’s manual or homologation figure exists it takes precedence; workshop data fills only what those omit.

A dash (—) means we haven’t verified that figure for that variant yet. Figures are US-market. GVWR and some capacities aren’t published by the maker for every model, so they may be blank; your door-jamb label is the authority for weights and tire pressures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What engines did the 2006-2013 Impala offer?

A 211 hp 3.5L V6, a 233-242 hp 3.9L V6, and the 303 hp 5.3L V8 in the front-drive SS (2006-2009).

Is the Impala SS rear-wheel drive?

No — unusually, the 5.3L V8 SS was front-wheel drive, using GM’s LS4 with Active Fuel Management.

How economical is it?
