Replace a Fuse

Electrical problems in your Suzuki Swift RS (2004–2010) may often be caused by a blown fuse. Fuses protect the electrical circuits from overload, and replacing one is a quick DIY fix. This guide shows you how to locate, check, and replace fuses in both the dashboard and engine bay fuse boxes.


When Should You Check a Fuse?

Fuse Box Locations

  1. Dashboard Fuse Box

    • Located on the driver’s side, inside the car, near the left pillar close to the pedals.

    • Accessible by removing the small fuse panel cover.

  2. Engine Bay Fuse Box

    • Located in the engine compartment, near the battery.

    • Lift the cover to access the fuses.

Each fuse box has a diagram on the cover showing the fuse layout and amperage ratings.


Tools Needed

  • Fuse puller (supplied in the fuse box or tool kit) or needle-nose pliers

  • Replacement fuses of the same rating (measured in amps)


Step-by-Step: Replacing a Fuse

1. Switch Everything Off

  • Turn off the ignition and all electrical accessories before working on fuses.

2. Locate the Correct Fuse

  • Use the diagram on the fuse box cover or your owner’s manual to find the fuse linked to the faulty circuit.

3. Remove the Fuse

  • Use the fuse puller or pliers to carefully pull the suspect fuse straight out.

4. Inspect the Fuse

  • Hold the fuse up to the light.

  • If the metal strip inside is broken or melted, the fuse is blown.

5. Install a New Fuse

  • Replace it with a fuse of the exact same amperage rating (e.g., 10A, 15A, 20A).

  • Push it firmly into place.

6. Test the Circuit

  • Turn the ignition on and check if the accessory or light now works.

  • If the new fuse blows immediately, stop troubleshooting and seek professional help.


Fuse Safety Tips

  • Never replace a fuse with one of higher amperage — this can damage wiring or cause a fire.

  • Always carry spare fuses in your glovebox for emergencies.

  • If multiple systems fail at once, check the main fuses in the engine bay.
