The Vauxhall Astra K (Mk7, 2015–2021) — Opel Astra — uses a direct TPMS with a sensor in each wheel. For a simple low-pressure warning you just correct the pressures; a full sensor re-match (after a wheel change) needs a tyre shop’s tool. Here’s what to do.
Low-Pressure Warning — Just Reinflate
If the warning came on because a tyre is low, you don’t need any reset:
- Set all four tyres to the correct pressure (cold) — the figure is on the driver’s door-pillar label.
- Drive a short distance. The sensors report the corrected pressures and the warning clears on its own.
After a Wheel Change or Rotation
The Astra K’s sensors are matched to specific wheel positions. If you’ve swapped or rotated wheels, or fitted new sensors, the system needs re-matching with a TPMS tool (the sensors are activated in a set order). This is a quick job at any tyre shop — it isn’t a dashboard menu step on this car.
If the Light Stays On
- Re-check every tyre — one low corner keeps the warning on.
- Steady-flashing TPMS light means a sensor isn’t being read (flat sensor battery or unmatched after a change) — that needs the tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset the tyre pressure light on a Vauxhall Astra K?
For a low tyre, just reinflate to the correct pressure and drive — it clears itself. After a wheel swap, the sensors need re-matching with a TPMS tool.
Is there a dashboard reset?
No menu reset on the Astra K — the direct system clears a low-pressure warning automatically once pressures are right.
Why won’t the light go out after pumping the tyres up?
A tyre is still slightly off, or a sensor isn’t matched after a wheel change — the latter needs a tool.
Do I need a tool?
Only after changing/rotating wheels or fitting sensors — not for a simple reinflation.
