Reset the Service Indicator

These instructions apply to the Ford Kuga Mk3 (CX482) 2020-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

When the oil-change / service message appears on your Ford Kuga Mk3 (2020–present), the Oil Life monitor has run down. You reset it from the cluster menu using the steering-wheel controls — no garage tool needed. Do the oil and filter change first.

Reset After the Service Only

The Oil Life monitor estimates oil condition from how you drive. Reset it once fresh oil and a filter are in, or it will misjudge the next interval.

How to Reset the Kuga Mk3 Service Indicator

  1. Turn the ignition on (engine off).
  2. Using the multifunction steering-wheel controls, scroll the cluster menu to ‘Settings’.
  3. Select ‘Vehicle’, then ‘Oil Life’.
  4. Press and hold ‘OK’ until a confirmation message appears.
  5. The Oil Life returns to 100% — the reset is done.

If It Doesn’t Reset

  • You didn’t hold OK long enough — keep it pressed until the confirmation shows.
  • A different warning is lit — that’s a fault, not the Oil Life monitor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnostic tool?

No — it’s done from the dashboard menu.

Does the engine need to run?

No — ignition on, engine off.

The message came back — why?

The OK-hold didn’t register. Repeat until the confirmation shows.

If a warning light appeared with the service message, look it up on autodtcs.com. After battery work, see our Kuga Mk3 battery guide.
