Reset the Oil Life

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 14, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Chevrolet Equinox Mk3 2018-2024.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The 2018–2024 Chevrolet Equinox (1.5L/2.0L turbo or 1.6L diesel) shows CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON at service time via the GM Oil Life System. After an oil and filter change you reset it from the Driver Information Center. This is the US-market procedure.

DIC button method

  1. Display REMAINING OIL LIFE on the DIC menu.
  2. Press and hold the ✓ (checkmark/select) button in the center of the DIC controls for several seconds until it reads 100%.

Accelerator-pedal method

  1. Put the ignition in Service Mode and display REMAINING OIL LIFE.
  2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds — 100% confirms the reset.
