The cabin (pollen) air filter on the 14th-generation Ford F-150 (P702, 2021 onward) sits behind the glove box and traps dust and pollen before it reaches the vents. Ford lists it on the service schedule, but it’s a five-minute job with no tools — you simply drop the glove box out of the way to reach it.

- Open the glove box and take everything out.
- Press the small tab on each side of the glove box inward to release it from its stops.
- Fully lower the glove box and pull it toward you so it hangs down out of the way.
- Behind it you will see the cabin-filter cover. Open it and slide the old filter out, noting the airflow arrow printed on the filter frame (it points down, toward the blower).
- Slide the new filter in the same way up so its arrow matches, then close the cover.
- Lift the glove box back into place until both side tabs click home, and check it opens and closes normally.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the cabin filter on the F-150?
Behind the glove box on the passenger side of the dashboard — there is no engine-bay or cowl access on the P702 F-150.
Which way does the filter face?
Match the airflow arrow on the filter frame to the direction marked in the housing (it points toward the blower). Fitting it backwards restricts airflow and can cause noise.
How often should I change it?
Follow Ford’s scheduled maintenance — typically around every 20,000 miles or once a year, and sooner if you drive in dusty or high-pollen conditions.
A musty smell or weak airflow from the vents is the usual sign it’s overdue.
