Reset the TPMS Tire Pressure Light

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 7, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Honda Accord Mk8 (CP/CS) 2008-2012.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The North American Accord (2008–2012) uses a calibration-type tire pressure monitor — it learns the correct pressures rather than showing a reading per wheel. After you adjust pressures, rotate or replace a tire, you re-calibrate it and then drive for it to finish.

How to reset (calibrate) the TPMS on a Honda Accord (2008–2012)

  1. Set all tires to the pressures on the doorjamb label while cold, with the car stopped and in Park (or neutral on a manual).
  2. Turn the ignition to ON (II).
  3. Without a multi-information display: press and hold the TPMS button (lower dash, left of the wheel) for about 3 seconds — the TPMS light blinks twice to confirm.
  4. With a multi-information display: use the steering-wheel arrows to select VEHICLE SETTINGS → TPMS CALIBRATION, press SEL/RESET, choose CALIBRATE, then press SEL/RESET.
  5. Drive normally at 31–62 mph (50–100 km/h) for about 30 minutes of steady driving; calibration completes on its own.

Honda Accord (2008–2012) cold tire pressures

Tire sizeFrontRear
P215/60 R1632 psi (2.2 bar)32 psi (2.2 bar)
P225/50 R1732 psi (2.2 bar)32 psi (2.2 bar)
Compact spare60 psi (4.2 bar)

Set pressures cold (before driving). The doorjamb label on your own car is the authority — some V6 and higher trims specify a little more, so check it before calibrating. Calibrate only after the pressures are correct, or the system learns the wrong baseline.

Because this system has no pressure readout, a slow leak only shows up as the warning light. Check all four tires with a gauge when the light comes on rather than assuming it is a calibration fault.

Frequently asked questions

Why won’t my TPMS light go off?

Either a tire is genuinely low — check and correct all four cold — or the system needs re-calibrating after a pressure change or rotation. The light clears only once calibration finishes after about 30 minutes of driving.

Does the Accord show pressure for each tire?

No. This generation uses a calibration-type monitor that learns the set pressures and warns if one drops; it does not display a live psi value per wheel.

I pressed the button but nothing happened — now what?

Make sure the ignition is ON (II) and the car is stopped. If the “calibration failed to start” message appears on MID cars, repeat the menu steps. Then drive steadily for about 30 minutes to complete it.
