Reset the Maintenance Minder

Reviewed by the Service Reset editor · Updated October 12, 2026 · How we verify

These instructions apply to the Honda Accord Mk9 (CR) 2013-2017.
For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

The 2013–2017 Honda Accord resets its Maintenance Minder (oil life) one of two ways, depending on your cluster. This is the US-market procedure.

Basic cluster (Select/Reset knob)

  1. Ignition ON (engine off). Press the Select/Reset knob repeatedly to show the engine oil life.
  2. Hold the knob for 10 seconds or more — the oil life and item codes blink.
  3. Hold the knob for 5 seconds or more — the codes clear and oil life returns to 100%.

Multi-information display (SEL/RESET menu)

  1. Ignition ON. Select Vehicle Settings and press SEL/RESET.
  2. Scroll to Maintenance Reset, press SEL/RESET, choose Reset, and press again.

FAQ

Which method is mine?

Basic clusters use the Select/Reset knob; cars with the multi-information display use the Vehicle Settings menu.

What oil does it take?

0W-20 — about 4.4 qt on the 2.4L four, 4.5 qt on the 3.5L V6.

Can I reset it from the touchscreen?

Yes — some trims also reset the Maintenance Minder from the audio/information screen’s Customized Features.

If your Accord stores a fault code with the warning light, look it up on autodtcs.com.
