If the key fob on your Lancia Ypsilon (846, 2011–2024) has gone weak or the central locking has become intermittent, the coin cell inside is almost certainly flat. It’s a quick swap with a CR2032.
Battery First — What You Need
- A CR2032 coin cell.
- A small flat-bladed screwdriver.
The flip key turns the ignition mechanically even with a dead fob, so you can always start the car; the cell only powers the remote locking.
Replacing the Cell
- Press button (A) and pull out the mechanical key blade.
- Turn screw (B) with a flat-bladed screwdriver to split the case.
- Remove the button-cell casing and lift out the old cell.
- Fit a new CR2032, observing the correct polarity.
- Reassemble in reverse order and check the remote locks and unlocks the car.
Lost Key or Adding a Spare
A cell swap keeps the existing coding. A lost or broken key can only be ordered and coded by a Lancia/Fiat dealer with a diagnostic tool — up to 8 keys can be programmed, but there’s no owner sequence.
If a Fresh Cell Doesn’t Help
- Check the polarity — an upside-down cell won’t work.
- Use the key blade to lock/unlock in the meantime.
