Reinitialise the Sunroof

These instructions apply to the Peugeot 2008 Mk2 (P24) 2019-Present. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

If the panoramic sunroof on your Peugeot 2008 Mk2 (P24, 2019–present) stops auto-closing, won’t tilt properly, or behaves oddly after a flat or disconnected battery, it needs re-initialising. The roof motor has lost its learned positions; re-teaching them takes under a minute with the roof switch.

Why It Happens

The sunroof controller stores its tilt, open and closed limits so it can run on one touch and auto-reverse on an obstruction. A power cut clears that memory.

How to Re-initialise the Sunroof

  1. Switch the ignition on.
  2. Hold the close switch until the roof is fully closed.
  3. Press and hold the switch again — the roof tilts and moves slightly; keep holding for about 1 second, then release.
  4. Wait 2 seconds, then press and hold the switch once more — the roof runs a full open/close cycle.
  5. Keep holding for 2 seconds at the end, then release — the system is reset.

If It Doesn’t Complete

  • Don’t release early — hold the switch through the whole cycle.
  • Clear any obstruction in the roof track and make sure the battery is healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my 2008 sunroof stop auto-closing?

A battery disconnect or flat battery wiped its learned limits; re-initialise to restore one-touch and auto-reverse.

How do I reset the Peugeot 2008 sunroof?

Fully close it, hold the switch to tilt (1 s), wait 2 s, then hold again through a full open/close cycle.

Is it safe to do myself?

Yes — keep hands and objects clear of the roof opening during the cycle.

Do I need a tool?

No — it’s done with the sunroof switch only.

Re-initialised the sunroof after a battery change? Re-teach the windows too — see our 2008 window guide. For warning lights, look up the code on autodtcs.com.
