Before You Start

- Switch the ignition on so the roof circuit is powered (you don’t need the engine running).
- Check the roof track and seal for leaves, grit or ice, and keep hands, hair and objects clear of the opening throughout.
- Give yourself an uninterrupted minute — the sequence must be completed in one go without releasing the switch early.
How to Re-initialise the Sunroof
- Switch the ignition on.
- Hold the close switch until the roof is fully closed.
- Press and hold the switch again — the roof tilts and moves slightly; keep holding for about 1 second, then release.
- Wait 2 seconds, then press and hold the switch once more — the roof runs a full open/close cycle.
- Keep holding for 2 seconds at the end, then release — the system is reset.
If It Doesn’t Complete
- Don’t release early. The single most common mistake is letting go before the panel has reached its end-stop; hold the switch through the whole cycle.
- Check the battery and charge it if needed. If voltage sags while the motor is loaded, the controller won’t log a clean end-stop.
- Clear any obstruction in the roof track and along the seal — anything that stalls the panel will abort the relearn.
- Start from fully closed every time. If a cycle is interrupted, begin again with the roof shut rather than part-open.
- If the roof still won’t hold its learned positions after two or three clean attempts, have the motor, switch and wiring checked before assuming the panel itself is faulty.
What to Expect After
Once the relearn finishes, one-touch open and close should return, the tilt position should hold, and the auto-reverse safety should work again if the roof meets resistance. Run it open and closed once more to confirm it moves smoothly end to end and seats fully against the seal. If you disconnected the battery for other work, it’s worth re-teaching the electric windows at the same time, as they lose their auto-up/anti-pinch memory in exactly the same way.
