Short answer: on a Peugeot Partner B9 BlueHDi (2008–2018), the AdBlue warning clears itself once you top the tank up — there is no button reset. If it has already reached 0 km and the engine won’t start, add at least 4 litres of AdBlue, switch the ignition on without starting, wait 10 seconds, then start.
What the AdBlue Warning Means
BlueHDi diesels use AdBlue to cut NOx emissions, injected from a separate 17-litre tank. As the fluid runs low the van warns you in stages, and if the tank empties a legally required system blocks the engine from restarting. The warning is about fluid level — keeping the tank topped up is all it takes to keep it away.
The Warning Stages
- First level — range under 2,400 km: the UREA light comes on with a beep and the remaining range is shown at ignition-on. Top up when convenient.
- Second level — range under 600 km: repeated warnings and “NO START IN” appear. Refill as soon as possible.
- Empty — 0 km: the engine will not restart once switched off.
Where to Add AdBlue
The AdBlue filler is next to the diesel filler, on its left, under a blue cap. Refill from 5- or 10-litre containers or 1.89-litre bottles, or a car/light-van AdBlue pump. Do not use the high-flow truck/bus pumps at filling stations — they are not suitable for a Partner.
Restart After the Tank Has Emptied (0 km, No Start)
- Add at least 4 litres of AdBlue through the blue-cap filler.
- Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
- Wait 10 seconds, then start the engine.
- As soon as you can, top the 17-litre tank right up so the warnings clear fully.
If it still will not start after this, it needs a Peugeot dealer or a qualified workshop.
When It Isn’t Just a Low Level
If the UREA, Service and engine self-diagnosis lights come on together, that is an SCR-system fault, not simply low fluid. A temporary fault clears once emissions are back within limits; a confirmed fault gives a set range and then blocks starting, so see a Peugeot dealer or qualified workshop promptly — topping up alone will not clear a genuine system fault.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset the AdBlue warning on a Peugeot Partner?
There is no button reset. Top the AdBlue tank up and the warning clears on its own. If the tank had emptied, add at least 4 litres, switch the ignition on without starting, wait 10 seconds, then start.
How much AdBlue do I need to restart after it won’t start?
At least 4 litres to get going, then fill the 17-litre tank right up so the warnings don’t come straight back.
Where is the AdBlue filler on the Partner?
Beside the diesel filler, on its left, under a blue cap.
Can I use the AdBlue pump at a truck stop?
No — the high-flow pumps for trucks and buses are not suitable for a Partner. Use a car/light-van AdBlue pump, or containers and bottles.
The warning stayed on after I filled up — why?
If only the level warning showed, driving on a properly filled tank clears it. If the UREA light stays on with the Service and engine self-diagnosis lights, that is an SCR fault that needs a workshop, not just a top-up.
