These instructions apply to the Kia Rio (UB, QBR) 2011 - 2018. For other models, please choose your vehicle here.
The Kia Rio (2011–2018) is fitted with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that alerts you when one or more tires are under-inflated. After adjusting tire pressures, the system automatically re-learns. No special tools are needed for a reset.
When to Reset
- After inflating tires to the correct pressure.
- After rotating or replacing tires.
- After a battery reconnection, if the TPMS light stays on.
Manual Reset Procedure
- Check the placard on the driver’s door jamb for the recommended tire pressures (front and rear may differ).
- Adjust all tires to the specified cold pressures using a reliable gauge.
- Start the engine and drive at a speed above 25 km/h (15 mph) for at least 10 minutes.
- The TPMS light should turn off once all tires are correctly recognized.

Troubleshooting
- If the light stays on, recheck each tire with a manual gauge — even a small deviation can trigger the warning.
- If the light flashes or “Check TPMS System” message appears, one or more sensors may be faulty.
- TPMS sensors typically last 7–10 years before the internal batteries fail.
- Cold weather can lower tire pressures — always adjust when tires are cold.
