These instructions apply to the Mercedes Sprinter Mk3 (W907/W910) 2018-Present.

After an oil-and-filter change on the third-generation Sprinter (W907/W910), the ASSYST PLUS service reminder in the instrument cluster keeps counting down until you confirm the work in the on-board computer. The cluster only shows the interval; the reset itself lives in a hidden ASSYST PLUS menu you reach from the driver’s display.

- Close the bonnet and all doors, then turn the ignition to position 1 (accessory on). Do not start the engine.
- Open the on-board computer in the cluster and scroll the menu until Total distance is displayed.
- Open the hidden service menu (see Good to know for the exact buttons on your van) until the menu listing VEHICLE DATA, DYNAMOMETER TEST and ASSYST PLUS appears.
- Scroll to ASSYST PLUS and confirm.
- With SERVICE DATA highlighted, scroll to Full service and confirm.
- Wait until Confirm service appears (it lists the services included), then select the confirm-service option and confirm.
- Select the oil specification you used and confirm.
- When Service performed? appears, scroll until YES is highlighted and confirm.
- Scroll until CONFIRMATION shows and confirm (a “no take-back” warning highlights, as the reset cannot be undone).
- The display reads Full service completed. Step back to Total distance, then turn the ignition to 0.
Good to know
The buttons differ depending on whether your Sprinter has a multifunction steering wheel. On vans without a multifunction wheel, you navigate with the physical cluster buttons: press button 1 to reach Total distance, then hold button 1 for about two seconds and press button 2 to open the hidden menu, scroll with button 3, and confirm each choice with button 2.
On vans with a multifunction steering wheel, use the left Touch-Control pad to scroll to Total distance, then hold the left button 2 for about two seconds and press button 1 (keeping both pressed) until the hidden menu appears. Scroll with the Touch-Control and confirm each choice with button 1.
FAQ
Do I need a diagnostic tool to reset the Sprinter service light?
No. The ASSYST PLUS reset is fully owner-doable from the instrument cluster with the ignition in position 1 — no dealer scan tool or plug-in device is required.
Why does the service message keep coming back after I clear it?
Because clearing the message on screen is not the same as completing the reset. If you only dismissed the reminder without stepping through the ASSYST PLUS “Full service” confirmation to “Service performed? YES” and “CONFIRMATION”, the counter is not reset and the message returns.
What is the difference between hiding the message and resetting it?
Pressing the back button simply hides the reminder until the next ignition cycle — the service interval is unchanged. The full ASSYST PLUS procedure above actually books the completed service and starts a fresh interval, which is what you want after doing the work.
Do I have to close the doors and bonnet first?
Yes. Close the bonnet and all doors before you begin and keep the ignition at position 1 without starting the engine, so the on-board computer stays in the service menu while you confirm each step.
