If the one-touch (automatic) up and down stops working on your Vauxhall Corsa E (2014–2019) — usually after a flat battery or a battery disconnection — the windows need re-initialising. It takes less than a minute per window.
How to initialise the electric windows on a Vauxhall Corsa E
- Close all the doors and switch the ignition on.
- Press and hold the window close switch until the window is fully shut, then keep holding it for at least 5 seconds. Release the switch.
- Press and hold the window open switch until the window is fully down, then keep holding it for about 1 second. Release the switch.
- Repeat for each remaining window.
Once re-taught, a single tap of the switch should run the window fully up or down again, and the anti-trap function is restored.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my Corsa E windows lose one-touch?
Disconnecting or flattening the 12 V battery erases the window control module’s learned end positions, so it falls back to hold-to-move until you re-initialise.
My window only moves while I hold the switch — is it broken?
Usually not. That is the default behaviour before initialising; run the steps above to restore automatic operation.
If an electrical warning light appeared at the same time, you can look the code up on autodtcs.com.
