After a battery disconnection or a flat battery, the electric sunroof on a Vauxhall Corsa E (2014–2019) can lose its memory and stop tilting or sliding automatically. Re-initialising it takes a few seconds.
How to initialise the sunroof on a Vauxhall Corsa E
- Switch the ignition on.
- Press and hold the sunroof close switch until the roof is fully closed.
- Keep the switch held for about 10 seconds after it has closed, then release it.
- Test the tilt and slide functions to confirm normal operation has returned.
If the roof still will not move correctly after this, stop and have it checked — forcing a misaligned panel can damage the mechanism.
Frequently asked questions
My Corsa E sunroof only moves while I hold the switch — why?
The control unit has lost its learned end positions, usually after the battery was disconnected. The re-initialisation above restores one-touch operation.
Do all Corsa E models have this?
Only cars fitted with the optional electric sunroof. If yours does not have a sunroof switch, this procedure does not apply.
If a warning light came on alongside the fault, you can identify it on autodtcs.com.
