A sluggish or dead remote on a Vauxhall Corsa E (2014–2019) is almost always a flat key battery. It takes a single coin cell — a CR2032 — and a couple of minutes.
How to replace the key fob battery on a Vauxhall Corsa E
- Slide the catch and pull out the emergency key blade from the fob.
- Using the gap left by the blade, carefully split the two halves of the fob apart from the side seam.
- Lift out the old CR2032 battery, noting which way up it sits.
- Fit the new CR2032 the same way round, with the flat engraved (+) side facing up as marked.
- Clip the fob back together, refit the key blade, and test the lock and unlock buttons.
Handle the new cell by its edges — grease from your fingers shortens battery life. If the remote still will not work after a fresh battery, the buttons may be worn or the fob needs re-syncing.
Frequently asked questions
What battery does a Corsa E key take?
A single 3 V CR2032 coin cell, the common type sold in any supermarket.
Will the car still start with a dead key battery?
Yes. The Corsa E uses a bladed key with a transponder, so the immobiliser still reads the key when you turn it — only the remote locking stops working until the battery is replaced.
If the immobiliser or key warning light stays on, you can check the fault code on autodtcs.com.
