The North American Accord (2008–2012) has three fuse boxes: one under the hood and two under the dashboard, one on each side. Finding the right box and reading its label is the whole job.
This is the North American Accord. For the European Accord (CU/CW, 2008–2015) see the European guide.
How to find and change a fuse on a Honda Accord (2008–2012)
- Pick the box: engine and lighting circuits are in the under-hood fuse box; cabin circuits (windows, sockets, audio, locks) are in the driver’s or passenger’s under-dash box.
- Open it and read the label — on the inside of the under-hood box lid, on the driver’s side panel, and inside the passenger’s kick panel — to find the circuit.
- Pull the suspect fuse with the plastic puller in the under-hood box, never metal pliers.
- Hold it to the light; a blown fuse has a broken strip. Replace it with the same amperage (same color).
- If the new fuse blows again, stop and have the circuit checked — a repeat blow is a fault, not a weak fuse.
Never fit a higher-rated fuse. Too much current can overheat the wiring and start a fire. Keep a few common-rating spares in the glovebox.
Because assignments vary with engine and trim, the label on your own car is the authority — not a chart from another Accord. Leave airbag and other safety circuits to a workshop.
Frequently asked questions
Where are the Accord’s fuse boxes?
Three of them: the under-hood box in the engine bay, and one under the dash on each side of the cabin. Engine and lighting fuses are usually under the hood; cabin electrics are under the dash.
Which fuse controls what?
Read the label on the box lid or side panel — it maps each slot and amperage for your exact car. Match the dead circuit to its slot there.
The new fuse blew immediately — why?
That points to a short or an overloaded circuit, not a bad fuse. Fitting a bigger fuse is dangerous; get the circuit diagnosed.
